This weekend, AFGAL Sitges took part in the 3rd Official Barcelona Pride Parade.
The main aim was to promote the upcoming Sitges Pride 2011 events.
The streets of Barcelona were packed to capacity as we made our way through the streets of the city…with well wishers following us for the occasional free t-shirt!

Barcelona Gay Pride 2011 will be held over a period of 10 days from the 18th to 28th of June. The event will feature a range of dance parties, social and cultural events and sporting competitions, culminating in a spectacular Gay Pride Parade on Sunday the 26th of June from 6pm.
Last year’s events included a great day at the fair, at Barcelona’s unique Tibidabo. Stunning views…everywhere.

And of course, who could forget the Parade! With more than 50,000 people lining the streets to view the parade and to take part in the festivities, it was the culmination of a 10 day long program!

This year’s Gay Pride Barcelona takes place between the 20th and 28th of June. Its the perfect event to get in the mood for Gay Sitges Pride which takes place two weeks later from the 9th to 13th of July.

Who could forget the amazing Barcelona Pride of 2009. Well, the dates for the 2010 Pride Parade have been announced in advance to allow everyone time to get their travel plans in order and their hotels and apartments booked.
The official dates for the Pride Festival are 18th to the 28th of June with the Parade taking place on the last day, Sunday the 28th of June at 6pm. It is definitely the highlight in the Gay Calendar of Barcelona and a party we highly recommend!

For those of you who were not add Barcelona Pride, or for those of you who want to remember the event, here is a video capturing the best bits of the parade and the after party. Our thanks to the guys at SnazzMedia.com for their production.

The guys were hot, the floats were amazing and the atmosphere was electric!
We’re still going through the photos with more than 2,500 taken, so those of you looking for shots of the cute Spiderman or the Man dressed only in Chains!!! will have to wait.
With an estimated 40,000 to 50,000 people attending and participating, the event has surpassed everyone’s expectations and bodes well for Sitges First Pride on July 9th to 11th 2010.

This Sunday, Barcelona will hold its first official pride. AFGAL Sitges is participating and will have its very own float in the parade. But we need your help! We have the Markatu Band performing and lots of volunteers, go-go boys and drag queens…but we need more!

This year’s Barcelona Pride is set to become the Pride of the Mediterranean with organisers joining together with the city council, official tourism authorities and local businesses to put on a truly spectacular week of events, culminating in one of the biggest parades through the centre of Barcelona City.
