Fiesta Mayor – Festa Major Sitges 2015

Fiesta Mayor is the biggest event in Sitges. Each year more than 200,000 people line the paseo along the beach to watch a stunning 30 minute firework display which marks the culmination of the festivities. Dancing fire dragons and parades of fire, human towers, giant puppets…and more await you in Sitges from the Fiesta Mayor takes place from the 19th to the 26th of August.

Our top tips for this event!

  • Invest in a straw hat and cheap glasses if you want to engage in the fire dances during the processions. It will stop you getting burnt and you can dance like the locals.
  • Head to the beachfront by 10pm to grab your spot to view the fireworks. The beaches will be busy from early evening with people bringing picnics and bottles of cava.
  • Seafront restaurants should be booked well in advance, but check with the restaurant first as may are actually closed during the fireworks as they are within the exclusion zone where the fireworks are let off.
  • Head to “Cap de la Villa” at 6pm to see the human towers. Unique and unmissable.
