Say hello to the Saltamartí… the latest addition to the Sitges seafront in San Sebastian.
The statue is part of the Roberto Llimós exhabition which is taking place in Sitges in El Mercat Vell.
We think he looks rather fetching… and the little star on his bum is very fashionable at the moment… but then again, this is Sitges, where even the monuments are stylish.

If you are in Sitges this week and fancy a bit of a cultural break with a difference, then head into Barcelona and take in the Tap Dogs Show. From tomorrow (Jan 9th) to Jan 13th the show takes place in the Teatre Tivoli , C/ Casp 8 in the Eixample district.
Six strapping aussies in jeans, blundstone boots and onstage percussionists provide one of the most energetic 90 minutes of stage show action that you are ever likely to see!
The show was made famous in Australia over 11 years ago and has been a huge hit ever since. For further details visit Tap Dogs Site.Watch a preview of the show below:
The Catalans really do have their own take on Christmas.
Yes, they do the same things as everywhere else, Christmas Trees, lights and presents. But there's also the hugely popular craze of Els Pastorets. Think Cludo-like mystery play, except they concentrate on the story of the nativity, and run in theatres and local community centres all over the city in December and January. This is Catalunya though, so they're not your standard primary-school- show-complete-with-video- wielding-parent. More like a cross between panto and religious tableaux, there can be fireworks, horned devils and winged angels flying from the ceiling. Not to be missed.
There are several on in Barcelona, but we recommend the Pastorets De Ribes which is held in San Pere De Ribes, just a few minutes drive from Sitges

We asked for it… a couple of days ago we were discussing how beautiful the weather was for December… and what happened… it's suddenly gotten decidedly cooler! But never mind. There is still plenty to do and the Winter sunshine here is a summer's day for most of us.
The late evenings are perfect for a walk along the beach, taking in the crisp air and marvelling in the beautiful views of the town, the sea and the mountains of the Penendes region.
The sunsets are still amazing in Sitges. The afternoons are long and warm… perfect for sipping a glass of wine and watching the gay boys walk by.
Walk down La Ribera and pop into a Churingito for a snack before taking off again to do some shopping, sight-seeing or just bask in the Winter sunshine.
There are so many restaurants along this long boulevard. Be sure to check all the menu's as there are some real hidden gems up towards the end of the Calipolis Hotel. Or alternatively, head over past the church for an even wider choice of food and take in the view the spectaular evening sky when the mountains grow closer as the sun goes down.
Earlier on some boys braved the cold water and went for surfing. We even saw some people swimming in the sea later on in the evening. What they were on we don't know!
The surfers were out in force yesterday and the waves were perfect for some spectacular moves.
Jorge, the surfer in the photo below, was by far the best on Saturday morning. He surfs most weekends early in the day so be sure to check him out!
Sitges is taking on a more seasonal air this weekend with the unveiling of the Christmas Tree in Cap de la Villa, (the town square).
Different in every way, the tree is very “Sitges”, in that it is more a piece of art than a Christmas Tree. But that is what Sitges is all about… that little bit of difference is accepted as normal.
Where else could you leave a Christmas Tree with glass, real candles and lights in the centre of a town, safe in the knowledge that the only thing anyone is going to do is admire it!

Imagine Ice skating in Sitges…. no we are not dreaming… its true. You can now skate in Sitges and get into the Christmas spirit.
The ice rink is plastic, coated with a silicon layer.. so its not the real thing, but its still great fun.
It costs EUR 4 for 30 minutes and some shops are giving out free-passes in town.
So go on.. get your skates on and be sure to take a photo… no one will believe that you were ice skating in Sitges!

At the moment it appears that everyone in Sitges and Barcelona is obsessed with the weather. We used to think that this was and Anglo-Celtic facination, but it appears that the weather-de-jour has captured the everyone's attention in Spain. And its no surprise really. Yesterday it hit 24 degrees in Barcelona.
This is odd, even for here at this time of year. And no, we're not complaining. But is is strange to walk around and see people dressed in Summer clothes while you listen to Christmas music and admire Chrimstmas lights (well it is wierd in Europe… maybe not so where Christmas is a Summer event).
So on our way back from Barcelona we stopped off at Les Botigues de Sitges, a little-know small part of Sitges which can only be reached via the coastal road. A friend of ours recommended we take a camera, as its home to one of the most sandy beaches in all of Catalunya. It also seems to be a firm favourite with dog walkers. As its not really a tourist spot… it seems to be ok to leave your dog off its leash and to swim freely.
This guy's dog ran away… but he wasn't shy to pose for the camera.
Ahhh.. he found him!
This little doggie doesn't want to swim… and we don't blame him.. while it was hot out.. the water looked cold!
So cute…
On the way back to the car-park in Barcelona… we ran into these two who were totally engrossed in their music!
Enjoying a late night dinner in Sitges… always romantic…and the perfect location for a quiet get-away in December!
Come visit us..and see for yourself.

Roller Hockey is a big Catalan Tradition. The catalans here go crazy for it… as they do with most sports – for some its almost fanatical. There are regular matches in Sitges where you can see the lovely local team play in Pavelló de “Pins Bens” most saturdays.
The game is fast pace and can be brutal at times… getting a slap from one of those sticks gotta hurt!

At the moment the weather is still unseasonably warm. The days are a little crisper by Summer standards, yes. But still beautiful weather for wantering the streets of Sitges… during the day or at night.
The streets are certainly quieter, except at weekends where there still seems to be an amazing buzz around the town.
The sky last night was stunning. At this time of year the reflection from the low-sun against the sea creates this amazing pink glow during the sunrise and sunset.
Normally at 8pm in the evening this beach would still be packed.. now its just beautiful to walk along the shores edge and enjoy the simply tranquility Sitges has to offer.
Boys abound on this jetty during the summer.. You simply can't walk down here without being cruised by some lovely lad.
So we though we'd share some of the hottest pics of the boys of Sitges from Summer 06.
Yes, the beaches get busy, but its great fun and you get to meet some fab boys from around the world. If you fancy some quieter beaches, San Sebastian is beautiful and less touristy.
Your eyes won't know where to look, showers or sea.. there's so much choice.
Beach parites are popular during the peak season….. expect even more in 2007!
Poor boy… hurt his hand on a skateboard earlier on…
These boys from Cincinati were here for a few days and wound up staying for 2 weeks in July. This was taken at least 1000 metres from the Gay Beach.. much quieter… but still lots of Gay boys.
And finally the perfect muscle boys… always here in their hundreds during early August… they seem to grow on trees here during the Summer months.
So there you have it. Summer is definitely the season of debauchery with the winter months perfect time to recover! Weekends are busy with Ricky's gay night on Friday's, Bingo at Monroe's, great drink promo's at B-Side and Oreks, the always stylish and seductive Privilege and of course the lovely Spanish boys who are always ready to please as you cruise down the quieter streets! Hey, more choice for you!

Shop 'till you drop….
Shopping for bargins is always great fun. Why not try your hand at some antiquing and pick up a piece of Catalan history. There are 2 main fairs that are worth a visit. Both are perfect for finding the perfect momento of your trip to Spain without resorting to tacky-tourist memorabilia.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m, the “Brocanters” or antique dealers fair takes place on the third Sunday of every month on Rambla de la Pau.

Round off your day with the perfect meal.
Once you have finished your trip, we recommend you pay a visit to Restaurant La Masia. The food is superb and it is on the journey back towards town.

Sitges is a great town for relaxing and partying… but somtimes every Gay boy needs a little distraction. Vilanova is a busy port town approximately 15 minutes drive from Sitges. Avoid the motorway and take the C-246a; the route is far more pleasant as you can see from the shots below. You pass some stunning mountain views of Sitges and a beautiful little winery on the way.
The entrance to the winery… almost a Monet like quality.
The Vilanova Fair is currently on today and tomorrow. Click the link below to explore more about Vilanova.
