Just when the rest of the world gets back to work after Christmas, along comes the Three Kings Festival, Spain's “Second Christmas”. The event is celebrated throughout Spain in a carnival-like atmosphere. And Sitges is no different.
The parade is steeped in traditions, many of which are still upheld to this day. Its a great spectacle and makes it a little bit easier to face the new year!
Works on the Barcelona to Madrid route are almost complete. A direct train service between Barcelona and Madrid now runs three days a week (Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays) which will take four hours.
In addition, two trains will make the journey on Fridays. From December 25, one train will run on Mondays and from January 1, the service will operate on Sundays.
The Barcelona to Sitges stretch is almost complete, but still suffering delays. With the weather cold, you don't get to see nice builders with their kit off like the one above…. but there are still some cute ones about.

Like most people visiting Sitges for the Christmas break, you are probably staying in an apartment. Don't forget to brighten it up with some Christmas cheer. The Fira de Santa Llúcia has been delighting us with traditional Christmas Fair since 1786. With over 300 stalls selling handmade decorations and gifts, christmas trees and mistletoe be sure to check it out if you are in Barcelona over the next few days.
Fira de Santa Llúcia, Pla de la Seu & Avda de la Catedral, Metro Jaume I, Dec 2-23, www.firesifestes.com.
Get decked up…. in Style – Maremàgnum
Or perhaps you would rather decorate yourself! Maremàgnum is an exclusive black mirrored shopping centre that is now over 10 years old and has become a Barcelona shopping institution. It has been recently redecorated and has a new lease of life. Gone are the gaudy discos and back are the trendy shops and restaurants. Check out Xocoa for some delicious chocolate treats or visit the family market on the ground floor where they have every sweet you can imagine.
Moll d’Espanya, Port Vell (93 225 81 00/www.maremagnum.es). Metro Drassanes. Open 10am-10pm daily.
Get into the Christmas Spirit…. Vila Viniteca
Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without some Christmas Spirits. We just adore Vila Viniteca a family-run business which now boasts over 6,000 different wines and spirits in Stock. From the very cheap (€2 bottles of table wine) to the very expensive (1953 Damoiseau rum – €500) they have just added a new food shop which is perfect for fine cheeses, cured meets, olive oils and other delicacies.
Spain's religious orders have been hiding a secret fro many years! No nothing so evil.. just some delicious traditional food and drink made from some amazing flavours. Imagine such combinations as eucalyptus and orange liqueur all wrapped up in some beautiful pacakaging. You can even taste the food before you decide to buy any item by eating in the onsite cafe which is located on the site of a medieval thermal bath.
C/Palla 8, Barri Gòtic (93 302 69 93). Metro Liceu.
Remember, most stores will close early on Christmas Eve and not re-open until after Boxing Day/Stephen's Day and some will stay closed for a few days extra in preparation for the awesome January sales….

The disco has a large dancefloor and bar area. Every Saturday night sees people dancing well into the early hours of the morning.

This weekend saw us taking in some of Sitges busiest bars… one of which was B Side.
Be sure to say hi to Fabio (Pirtured above), part owner of the bar who will be make sure you enjoy your night out on the town.
You just have to have your photo taken with the bronzed body… or alternatively you might want to try getting a photo with one of the strippers!
Some Russian boys enjoying a hot summer's night in B-Side this August.

Oreks is one of the busiest bars in Sitges and is a definite Sitges Hotspot. Located on Bonaire, the regular Stripper Shows draw a huge crowd, together with the friendly staff and great music.
The bar staff and owners will be sure to look after you for the entire night!
The bar fills up from early on in the night and you are sure to run into someone you know… or someone you would like to know!
These boys just begged to have their photos taken… right outside the bar!
Service with a smile…
We will have all of the photos from the night.. including the stripper show later on this week.

We normally leave the Barcelona Bars to our sister guide, but this one was a bit special. Spain's first Oxygen bar opened last night on Thursday 14th of November.
Manhattan blends with Barcelona in this “New York” style lounge bar. The attentive table service together with a wide and varied cocktail menu are a welcome addition to the Barcelona circult. Located in the heart of Barcelona's hippest district, all you need to do is kick-back, relax and try one of the wild varieties of oxygen… yes oxygen! Mango was our favourite and the experience is truly breathtaking… if you'll pardon the pun!
The owners, Brian and James are well know business men in Sitges. The bar appeals to a very mixed crowd…. straight, gay and definitely beautiful! You just have to see the waiters in the uniforms.. kilts and boots… a killer combination! And it appears to be a trend as some of the guests even came in kilts too!
Catherine receiving some smooth-service from one of the Shadow's kilt-clad boys!
James, the owner and host for the evening looking sultry!
The cocktails were flowing well into the late-hours in typical Catalan style… attentively served by the lovely Alex.
James and Brian enjoying what was a very successful launch night.
The Shadow Lounge Bar is located on Consell De Cent 223, 08801, Barcelona.
