During the winter season, Barcelona Airport has seen an expansion in services on direct routes linking it to North America, Asia and Europe.
Delta Airlines, Air Transat, Turkish Airlines, SAS and Carglux have announced they will continue to operate some of the flights in the summer and will offer others with a greater frequency. The aim is to meet the demand for direct intercontinental passenger and air freight flights.
Delta Airlines, which links Barcelona with Atlanta only in the summer, will continue to operate the route between 1 November and 31 March with four weekly flights. It will also maintain six flights a week to New York.
Turkish Airlines is planning to increase the number of flights to Istanbul from four to seven, in other words, one a day.

Those of you travelling between Sitges and Barcelona will be glad to note that the safety works at Barcelona have been reviewed and the line has reopened. Services are limited with 3 trains per hour until 9pm, and 2 trains per hour thereafter. Extra buses will remain in place for the next few weeks. It now looks like the high speed Madrid to Barcelona train will open in the new year and not in December as expected.

Local newspapers in Barcelona are reporting that train services will continue to be disrupted until at least Monday the 5th of November due to ongoing rail works to repair damage to the tunnels entering Barcelona. Bus services are running from Gava to the city centre, but there are delays at peak times.

This week, expect disruption to the Sitges to Barcelona and Airport routes via train due to rail works at Sants Station. The train leaves from Sitges and stops at Gava. You are then transferred from Gava to Barcelona (Plz Catalunya) via Bus.
Currently, it takes approximately 1hr, 15mins at off-peak times, but expect further delays during busy periods. We suggest you get the Mon Bus, if at all possible (they have some very cute drivers by the way!). Check out Gay Sitges Guide’s “Getting Here” section for further details. The disruption is set to last for the week.
