Travel Advisory – Barcelona Rail Works

Travel Advisory

This week, expect disruption to the Sitges to Barcelona and Airport routes via train due to rail works at Sants Station. The train leaves from Sitges and stops at Gava. You are then transferred from Gava to Barcelona (Plz Catalunya) via Bus.

Currently, it takes approximately 1hr, 15mins at off-peak times, but expect further delays during busy periods. We suggest you get the Mon Bus, if at all possible (they have some very cute drivers by the way!). Check out Gay Sitges Guide’s “Getting Here” section for further details. The disruption is set to last for the week.

Travel Update – Airport to Sitges.

Travel Update, Train to Sitges

After 10.25 p.m. or 22.25 its best not to take the train from the Airport due to the extensive building work which takes place at that time. The Mon Bus is the best option which now leaves between Terminal B & C. Or you could take a taxi, which costs approximately EUR 50.

Also, after 22.25 trains do not stop at Paseo de Gracia returning to Sitges. You have to go to Plaza de Catalunya.

Madrid to Barcelona in 4 Hours.

Madrid Barcelona Train

Works on the Barcelona to Madrid route are almost complete. A direct train service between Barcelona and Madrid now runs three days a week (Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays) which will take four hours.

In addition, two trains will make the journey on Fridays. From December 25, one train will run on Mondays and from January 1, the service will operate on Sundays.

The Barcelona to Sitges stretch is almost complete, but still suffering delays. With the weather cold, you don't get to see nice builders with their kit off like the one above…. but there are still some cute ones about.

Visit the Getting Here section for more info.
