Today in Sitges the weather was truly amazing. And it is set to get better. With temperatures expected to reach 22 degrees on Saturday its more like May than March.
We took the afternoon off to stroll around the beach promenade. The surfers were out in force as were the sailiors. Hello boys!

With so many beautiful beaches, you will never be short of a place to swim. However sometimes, you just want to take a dip the minute you wake-up, or just before you go for dinner and a trip to the beach doesn’t seem all that practical.
The Playa San Sebastian Beach is located in the heart of Sitges right in San Sebastian. The hotel has a pretty pool with hydrotherapy jets to soothe thoes aches and hangovers away. Perfectly secluded it is ideal to while away an afternoon without the hussle and bussle of the beach hawkers or the Sunday crowds.
The hotel has some stunning suites with spectacular views of the beach, especially during high-tide where you can lay on your bed and listen to the sound of the waves as you relax.
The Hotel Calipolis pool may be small, but it is in one of the most convenient spots in town. Right opposite the gay beach, it is percect for relaxing as you look up and spot those nice boys hanging out of the balconies above! Yum!
Finally, the Sol Melia Sitges has a very large pool, located just outside of town. The hotel is very service-focussed so you can expect to be waited on as you relax by the pool. You are overlooked by the houses nearby, but who knows… you might see something you like too.

The Barcelona-Sitges International Rally takes place this St.Patrick’s weekend in March. For full details check out the events listing page on Gay Sitges Guide.com.
The autos will leave, as is tradition, from the Sant Jaume Square in Barcelona and will arrive to Sitges after crossing the crazy route that crosses the Garraf coasts. The aim of the Rally is not to compete but to have fun and enjoy the atmosphere of beautiful classic cars.

The next “Shopping on the Street” festival takes place on the 11th of on La Fragata, 11.00 – 20.30 H. Last year’s event had some great bargins as the shops clear all of their stock to make way for the comming season’s items. So if shopping is your thing, be sure to pay a visit.

Sitges said goodbye to carnival in true style on Wednesday night.
The King’s funeral procession made its way through the town and onto the beach where a spectacular show took place.
The Egyptian theme was continued right to the very end as the obelisks were set on fire and the stage burned away. Then a spectacular fireworks display brought proceedings to a close.

Afterwards the widows, yes widows (the King was very popular in Sitges), made their way back to La Loca Cola and El Horno and toasted to the memory of Carnival 2007.
